SMANPATRI's Smartphone-Based School Exams are Innovative

Oelnaineno – The Principal of SMA Negeri 4 Takari, Ferry H. Umbu Tamu, S.Pd., M.M, stated that SMANPATRI in 2026 is conducting a Smartphone-Based School Examination (USBS) on Wednesday (15/4/2026). However, he mentioned that USBS is a step in changing from the School Examination Based on Scientific Writings (USBKTI).

"USBS is to answer one of the School's Visions 'Character, Fair, Neutral, Happy, Cooperation, Innovation, and Exemplary,' which is Innovation that becomes a challenge in itself to implement. This can be done because the school has two Starlinks. One is sourced from the 2025 BOSP Capital Expenditure and the other is sourced from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Assistance in 2026," said Ferry when contacted in his office on Thursday (16/4/2026).

Meanwhile, USBS also requires supporting smartphones. The smartphones used belong to each student, he continued, and the data packages are provided by the school through the committee. This is done to ensure the smooth implementation of USBS.

The exam questions are designed in package form according to the science (IPA) and social studies (IPS) streams since it is the last year of implementing the 2013 Curriculum. Each question package consists of 4-6 subjects. This is done following the pattern of the UTBK test. "The implementation of USBS is held every day divided into 3 sessions. Session 1 starts at 08:00-10:30 WITA, session 2 starts at 10:30-12:00 WITA, and session 3 starts at 12:00-14:30 WITA. This activity is fully supported by the School Committee," said Ferry. Asked about other schools conducting the US, Ferry also questioned. Because there is already a Circular from the Office regarding the US, each Principal immediately follows it up according to the condition of their respective schools. "I do not know the implementation of the US in other schools. If you want to know, you may come directly and ask. It is supposed to start from April 7-17, 2026, according to the Circular.
